2010 has already shaped up to be an exciting year for the Team N3kk1d Family of Teams. We kicked things off with the 5th 3rd River Bank Run on May 8th; our b4r3 4rm5 running team raised almost $1,200 in its inaugural year! Shortly afterwards on May 22nd, The Road to Success convened at Aquinas College for the Grand Rapids Walk MS event, resulting in another $400 in fundraising. Next, Team N3kk1d spent two glorious days at the West Michigan Bike MS event on June 12th and 13th, raising almost $4,200. On top of all of this, Team Captain Sloth raised an additional $300 for Team Wendy at the Wisconsin Best Dam Bike Tour in August! Now, with $6,000 in fundraising under our belts, it's time to head out to Wisconsin once again for the Door County MS Challenge Walk scheduled for September 24th through the 26th. Whew!
And speaking of the Challenge Walk, we have finally added a separate page for Team SassyGoWeebie. Check it out and learn more about our work with the Wisconsin Chapter of the National MS Society!
At this point, we'd like to give extra special thanks to one sponsor in particular: Peninsular Technologies in Ada, Michigan. Each year, their dedication to our cause seems to grow. In 2009, they sponsored a Team N3kk1d-affiliated golf team which raised several thousand dollars for Multiple Sclerosis. In 2010, they donated generously to not only the b4r3 4rm5 running team, but also our cycling team as well. Thanks a million... we can't say it enough!
This year we tried something new: a high-profile Wii Bowling Tournament, which took place on Saturday March 13th as part of National MS Awareness Week. Hosted by Pietro's Backdoor Pizzeria in Grand Rapids, we drew in 30 players with all-you-can-eat pizza, a live DJ, activities, and prizes. Our tournament winner was Aaron, who blew us away with a triple strike in the 10th frame of the final! A good time was had by all: check out photos and videos in our online gallery!
Also at the Wii Bowling Tournament were Darlene and Kimmy from BeautiControl who pampered us with spa product demonstrations and good humor. We were very lucky to be able to have Darlene as our team Power Partner at the West Michigan Bike MS event as well; thanks a million to Darlene and her husband Jim for driving out to Holland to hang with the team at Skiles Tavern. Maybe we'll see her at next year's Wii Bowling Tournament as well...
