July Day Two – Friday
Day Two’s route spanned 65 miles from the Maple River Campground to Midland, Michigan. This was much longer than Day One, but on the other hand there were less distractions as Sloth passed an infinite number of farm fields and numerous small towns on his way to Alma, Michigan for lunch. From there he followed last year’s route along the Pine River to Midland to the northeast. Sloth didn’t have time to “smell the roses” this time, however: he was attempting to outpace a small but brutal pocket storm system that appeared over Midland County. In the end, he got caught in a downpour just miles from his destination. Looks like Sloth’s weatherluck is only so strong!
