August Day One – Wednesday
After a wonderful Tuesday evening, Sloth had a roughly 30 minute window between early morning rain showers and a full-on thunderstorm to pack up his belongings at Traverse City State Park. After a short jaunt on the TART trail heading east, Sloth took shelter for a few minutes to update his route, staying off of US-31 and taking back roads up to M-72. The day significantly improved as soon as Sloth left major highways to head north along Torch Lake, ultimately utilizing mostly county roads to arrive at Fisherman’s Island State Park. Between the morning storm and afternoon hills, the day was quite difficult but ended with a cool “bath” in Lake Michigan and dinner on the beach.
