August Day Two – Thursday
The route on day two was the reason Sloth returned to northern Michigan. And while the scenery was magnificent, the route was also the longest Sloth had ever attempted with his trailer: 70 miles. From Fisherman’s Island State Park, Sloth hugged the coast of Lake Michigan, eventually ending his day at Wilderness State Park. This whirlwind adventure included the lauded Little Traverse Bay Wheelway and the M-119 Tunnel of Trees.
Ultimately, this was to be Sloth’s final leg on the tour: more rain on Friday morning plus a promise of additional thunderstorms on Saturday forced Sloth to make the decision to end the trip early. Luckily, a group of Calvin College students were also camping at Wilderness State Park and happened to have an extra seat in their cargo van. Thank you, Calvin College!
