2016 Sloth Bike Tour
After a summer of bike-laden camping adventures in 2015, Sloth was already planning for the years ahead. Several routes heading north, south, and southeast from Grand Rapids were planned; in the end Sloth tackled a second trip to Midland, a route along Lake Michigan to the north, and a camping weekend with the young Glitch, who had just completed her second Bike MS tour.
The first tour kicked off the weekend after Bike MS. Sloth and Glitch headed out in sunny, mid-80’s temperatures for a weekend in and around Holland State Park (roughly 100 miles all told). Sloth followed this up with a solo tour in July to the east side of the state, eventually finding himself at the Bay City Recreation Area off of Saginaw Bay (Lake Huron). August’s tour was to be the longest and most aggressive with a route that would span from Traverse City to Sault Ste. Marie along the St. Mary’s River in the Upper Peninsula; however, due to transportation and weather complications this was cut short to just two days up to Wilderness State Park.
