2014 Sloth Bike Tour
In September 2014, Team N3kk1d captain Sloth decided to embark on a personal challenge on the way to the Challenge Walk MS event in Wisconsin. Instead of driving to the event as usual with his wife Steph, he was going to bike from his house to Door County, Wisconsin. After researching cost, routes, and many other factors, Sloth decided to utilize the S. S. Badger car ferry to cut across Lake Michigan from Ludington to Manitowoc and then travel north to the peninsula. This would also free up a day to pedal around Door County and explore some of the sights on his own time. Total cycling mileage? Somewhere around 230.
In the end, Sloth averaged around 60 miles a day. A day of rest in Manitowoc aligned perfectly with the only rain he encountered on the entire trip; otherwise Sloth was spoiled by sun, tailwinds, and 60 to 70 degree temperatures. Needless to say, his first solo bike tour was blessed with incredible weatherluck and gorgeous scenery!
By popular demand, Sloth’s travelogue has been added to the Team N3kk1d media gallery. Similarly to Challenge Walk MS, we have separated each day of Sloth’s journey into individual galleries for convenience’s sake. A “bonus” gallery, day six, is an intermediary gallery which connects Sloth’s solo bike tour with the Challenge Walk MS event.
