2013 Wisconsin Challenge Walk MS
Over its previous five years, the Challenge Walk MS event in Wisconsin raised $1.6 million for MS-related research and programs both here in the United States and abroad. Throw in 2013, and you’re looking at almost two million dollars… and this is a group of only 200 participants!
Collen Kalt, the president of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Wisconsin Chapter, often states that this event will both challenge and change you. This could not be more true. The friendships that have grown over the past half decade are bonds that will last a lifetime. All it takes is one weekend with this group of incredible individuals to understand that MS will be cured. The energy and momentum is on our side!
Friday opened with light rain, humidity, and warm temperatures that had not yet been seen at this event. While t-shirts and shorts seemed great at the time, the constant state of moisture was unkind to our challenge walkers, who suffered heat-related issues and blisters even through the cooler days afterwards. But across the finish line they walked, raising more than $340,000 in a single weekend! Check out Sloth’s yearly “view from a seatpost” video montage for more! The number of photos and videos from this event continues to grow on a yearly basis; for the purposes of organization, they are separated out into individual index files:
